Hi, I’m Matthew Bertani Spring, co-founder of KidsInvolved.
I’ve always been outgoing, but I also saw how much bullying affected school life. After Covid, isolation made students less tolerant, and many struggled to reconnect. I realized that friendship and acceptance are at the core of education: when kids feel they belong, they learn better and
grow stronger.

Programs Snapshot

  • Tutoring: Free peer-to-peer learning led by honors and AP students.
  • Sports: Inclusive sports and Special Olympics that build confidence.
  • Community: Relief efforts during crises so education never stops.

Our Story / Mission

KidsInvolved was founded during the Covid-19 pandemic, when schools closed and children were left isolated. Many students, especially those with disabilities or from families under stress, began falling further behind. Hurricanes like Ian in Florida and Dorian in the Bahamas disrupted classrooms even more. We responded by organizing peer-to-peer tutoring, sourcing laptops and WinFi hotspots, and creating inclusive sports so kids could reconnect socially and academically. Our mission is clear: ensure that every child has access to learning, friendship, and opportunity. Never leave any kid behind.

Why Peer-to-Peer Works

Through KidsInvolved, we discovered that every child can learn with the right support. Peer-to-peer tutoring works because:

  • Kids with ADHD, ADD, and dyslexia, often told they couldn’t succeed, actually progressed faster with peers.

  • Children asked more questions when learning from peers because they didn’t feel judged.

  • Reading success came not from harder books, but from finding the right material that matched a child’s interests.

  • With consistent peer support, some students moved from special programs into mainstream classrooms and thrived.

This insight is at the heart of KidsInvolved: empathy, patience, and peer connection can transform learning.

Why KidsInvolved Matters

Technology can answer questions, but it cannot replace empathy. KidsInvolved builds real human connection through peer-to-peer learning, creating not just academic growth, but also friendship, confidence, and resilience.
